Experience
Samuel is a multi-faceted first responder certified as fire fighter, EMT-Paramedic and emergency manager. He began his public service career as a volunteer junior firefighter and continues to serve in that same department to this day. Samuel obtained his firefighter and paramedic certifications and worked full-time for a combination Fire & EMS department in coastal North Carolina. After some years working "on the truck" he pursued his desire to work in emergency management and returned to his home county in NC as the Emergency Management Coordinator. During his stint there, he worked numerous large scale events, incidents and disasters as part of the EOC or incident management team. Samuel was eventually promoted to Deputy Director of Emergency Services where he oversaw the emergency management, fire marshal, EMS and 911 center of that department. In 2024, he changed careers to a State EMS agency overseeing EMS programs and certifications in NC where he is still employed.
In his career, Samuel has worked on more than 20 large scale incidents as part of a incident management team or member of the Emergency Operations Center Team. He is nationally credentialed as a Type III Incident Commander, Planning Section Chief and Situation Unit Leader.
